Vets White PaperThe Center for Public & Nonprofit Leadership at the McCourt School of Public Policy is pleased to announce the publication of Changing the Conversation: Capitalizing on the Strengths of Veterans Here at Home.  The white paper, written by John D. Sims, Colonel, USA, Retired and Visiting Practitioner at CPNL, can be accessed by clicking here.

The purpose of this white paper is to examine current perceptions and discussion surrounding returning military veterans, and to offer future narratives that highlight the strengths, rather than the wounds, of all veterans.  While set in the context of the current environment of the post   9-11 war years, this paper draws from and expands upon comments and concepts brought forth during the March 21, 2014 Issue Forum hosted by the CPNL, titled From Nation-Building to Community-Building: Capitalizing on the Strengths of Our Veterans Here at Home.  The forum brought together a panel of national and local leaders, veterans, and civilians to discuss efforts underway across communities and sectors to reintegrate and engage veterans in the life-and work-of our communities.  The full video of the forum can be viewed by clicking here.

We hope you find the white paper to be useful in your endeavors and we look forward to continuing the conversation on how best to capitalize on the skills, creativity and leadership that our veterans have to offer.
