Introducing the Summer 2023 Micron Nonprofit Leaders of Color Fellows

The Center for Public and Nonprofit Leadership at Georgetown University and the Micron Foundation are excited to introduce the participants in the Summer 2023 Micron Nonprofit Leaders of Color Fellowship:

These six nonprofit leaders were selected from a very impressive group of applicants and represent the diversity of the nonprofit sector in the fields of STEM, teacher diversity, literacy, or childhood poverty ranging from select regions that include Idaho, Central New York, and the greater Washington DC Region. Over the course of the summer, the Micron Fellows will build their personal leadership, increase their organizations’ capacity, and strengthen their networks in the sector. The goal of the fellowship program is to provide leaders of color with education and funding that supports them to stay in the nonprofit sector and hold positions of influence within their organizations and communities.

Trish Walker, CEO & Founder of the Idaho Black Community Alliance, hopes to gain “​​training, education, and support on navigating the nonprofit sector as Black women, imposter syndrome, time management, and learning how to navigate through cultural bias. The work we are already doing is a labor of love, and we know that we are inspiring our community. This fellowship will allow me to enhance my skills as a leader in my community!”

Selvon Waldron, Executive Director of Genesys Works, is looking forward to the program’s broader social justice lens. “ I hope to gain a deeper context of the history, scope, policies, and possibilities of disruptive nonprofit leadership. I also hope to develop radical skills, and gain useful frameworks to deepen my influence in my position and the sector as a Black male leader.”
