Sushma Raman to Serve as Waldemar A. Nielsen Philanthropy Fellow at CPNL

Georgetown University’s Center for Public and Nonprofit Leadership is proud to announce Sushma Raman as our Spring 2026 Waldemar A. Nielsen Philanthropy Fellow. Sushma is a philanthropic and social change strategist with over two decades of experience leading programs and organizations. During her time as the Nielsen Philanthropy Fellow, she will host a fireside chat series on Trends in Global Philanthropy. The conversations with philanthropy CEOs will center on understanding the changing landscape of global philanthropy, and discuss new possibilities and potential for collective action.

Sushma Raman has served as the executive director of the Carr-Ryan Center for Human Rights at Harvard Kennedy School, a program officer at the Ford and Open Society Foundations, and President of Southern California Grantmakers. She currently serves on the boards of Global Witness, Robert and Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center, the Center for AI and Digital Policy, and the advisory board of the Carr-Ryan Center at Harvard. 

Sushma will hold roundtable discussions and office hours with McCourt School of Public Policy students on pathways to enter global philanthropy.
