Women Leadership Profiles

Posted in News Story

October 13, 2015 Over the past year, Kathy Kretman and Pablo Eisenberg Public Interest Fellow, Jayati Sethi (MPP 15), interviewed five accomplished women leaders to discuss how to develop the future generation of women leaders locally and globally.  The resulting series of leadership profiles can be found using the links below.

The leaders highlight the importance of building women’s confidence, providing them with ongoing mentorship, and giving women opportunities to develop specific skills.  From her experience working to build female leadership in garment factories around the world, Bobbi Silten, Executive Vice President of Global Talent and Sustainability at Gap Inc., notes, “We have learned the significance of creating a supportive culture, which recognizes that enabling, empowering, and advancing women is good for everyone.”

Ambassador Melanne Verveer, Executive Director of Georgetown’s Institute for Women, Peace and Security, issues a call to action, “Women need to know that they can and will be part of change.  We need to tap that potential.”
