New Fellowship Supports Nonprofit Leaders of Color through Training, Mentoring, Networking, and Funding
Posted in News Story
Micron Foundation and Georgetown University’s Center for Public and Nonprofit Leadership (CPNL) are launching a new fellowship to support nonprofit leaders of color working in the fields of food insecurity, STEM education, STEM educator support, and diversifying the STEM educator pipeline.
The fellowship will last six months and include:
- A full tuition scholarship to attend the Spring 2023 Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate Program at Georgetown University
- Monthly meetings with an assigned mentor
- Participation in a peer learning cohort
- The opportunity to apply for up to $25,000 in general operating support from the Micron Foundation
“Through this partnership our two organizations are combining our resources to advance inclusion, build leadership capacity, and provide a new network for leaders from the global majority” says Dr. Luisa Boyarski, Associate Director at CPNL. “Advancing racial equity is a core focus of our Certificate Program and we see this Fellowship as a critical part of the work.”
Dr. Robert Simmons, Head of Social Impact and STEM Programs at the Micron Foundation explains that, “Doing this work is an imperative for our communities. It’s critical to recognize that the ways in which leaders of color in the nonprofit sector aren’t supported has a negative impact on their organizations, as well as their feelings of safety. As a former nonprofit leader, I experienced isolation and doubt. But it all changed for the better when I was in community with others.”
To learn more about the Fellowship, please RSVP for our Information Session on Tuesday, September 20th at 12:00pm.
Applications to the Micron Nonprofit Leaders of Color Fellowship are now open.
